In June of 2021, ICI Innovations (ICI) completed the latest version of its Automatic vessel Information System (AIS) solution for the Maritime Exchange for the Delaware River and Bay, a non-profit trade association and leading advocate for port and related businesses in the Delaware River region.
The Challenge:
The Maritime Exchange for the Delaware River and Bay had an aging legacy AIS application which was nearing the end of vendor support. A new AIS system to integrate with its Maritime On-Line® solution was required including a modern and improved user interface, dynamic interaction and enhanced feature set.
The Solution:
Following an industry wide Request for Proposals bidding process, the Exchange contracted ICI to complete the project work, which was partially funded by a grant from the New Jersey Department of Transportation. ReportViz is the dynamic reporting and data visualization component of ICI’s RIVAS solution for project information management, which was leveraged to deliver the requirements. The ReportViz-based AIS platform not only transforms the user interface, but it also ushers in new features requested by the maritime community.

Exchange AIS subscribers can now display a vessel’s vector based on course over ground and easily operate controls for the replay of historic vessel information and course.
