ICI Innovations Featured in Maritime Exchange Publication – Winter 2026

Feb 19, 2026

International recognition for the Delaware River Data Gathering Initiative and expert insight on AI-powered document management highlight ICI Innovations’ leadership in environmental intelligence and enterprise technology.

This winter, ICI Innovations is proud to be highlighted twice in the Winter 2026 edition of The Beacon, published by the Maritime Exchange. From international recognition for the Delaware River & Estuary Ecosystem Data Gathering Initiative (DGI) to thought leadership on artificial intelligence in document management, the issue showcases the impact of innovation across the maritime and environmental sectors.

Data Gathering Initiative Wins International Award

The Maritime Exchange’s Delaware River & Estuary Ecosystem Data Gathering Initiative (DGI) has received international recognition. Environmental Business International Inc. (EBI) designated the project as a 2026 Business Achievement Award winner in the Technology category.

ICI Innovations proudly developed the DGI web platform as part of a multidisciplinary team that included Mott MacDonald, Normandeau Associates, Environmental Research and Consulting, and Verdantas.

The DGI supports maritime stakeholders navigating complex environmental regulations in one of the nation’s most ecologically sensitive waterways. By integrating physical and biological research, GIS data, regulatory documentation, and agency decision records, the platform streamlines permitting while supporting critical habitat protection under the federal Endangered Species Act.

The award will be formally presented at the Environmental Industry Summit XXIV in San Diego in April 2026.

“In addition to streamlining the permitting process and reducing costs for stakeholders, the DGI supports the effort of documenting ecological conditions essential for understanding how to avoid impacting important habitats.”

This recognition affirms the power of collaboration, foresight from the Maritime Exchange’s Private Berth Dredging Committee, and the role technology plays in balancing maritime commerce with environmental stewardship.

How Can AI Help with Document Management?

In the same issue, Corey Tucker, President of ICI Innovations, explores how artificial intelligence can transform document management within Microsoft SharePoint Online environments.

While many organizations rely on SharePoint for collaboration, folder-heavy systems and inconsistent naming conventions often recreate the same problems once found in legacy file servers. Corey outlines how SharePoint’s metadata-driven framework — when combined with AI — can dramatically improve search precision, document consistency, and user adoption.

“AI’s real value is in making metadata easier to apply.”

Rather than replacing structured document management, AI enhances it by automatically analyzing uploaded files, extracting key properties, and suggesting metadata with high accuracy. Over time, machine learning improves performance, reduces manual effort, and strengthens trust in enterprise information systems.

The article also highlights AI-powered summarization and question-answering tools that help users quickly identify relevant content across multiple documents — while remaining constrained to verified internal sources to eliminate hallucinations.
